Position: Fluglehorn

David started playing the cornet at the age of 9 with Tilbury Youth Band. He progressed via Soprano and Flugelhorn to be Principal Cornet of The Tilbury Senior Band at the age of 15. At 25 David took a break from playing and started conducting, taking on the roles of Musical Director of Northfleet Brass and Resident Conductor of The Aveley Band, soon to become The Aveley & Newham Band. David led Northfleet Brass for 10 years taking them from the bottom of the 2nd Section to the Championship Section, winning many prizes along the way as well as attending the National Finals 3 times. When David started playing again he took on the role of Principal Cornet and latterly Flugelhorn of The Aveley & Newham Band, attending 6 National Finals, winning the Grand Shield and playing twice at the British Open. David helped MK Brass out at a competition in March 2018 and has been with us ever since.

Position: Solo Horn

Sarah started playing with the Heath training band. Having met her trombonist husband at a wedding, she then made a series of moves around the country and abroad as she relocated because of work. Spells at Swindon Pegasus, Clacton on Sea Cooperative band, Colchester Band, Harmonies des Deux Rives (Paris) and Towcester Studio Band followed. Sarah joined and settled wtih Milton Keynes Brass in 2007.

Position: 1st Horn

Angie started playing horn at the age of 10 with Spalding Royal British Legion Band (Lincolnshire). The band competed in 2-3 contests each year and performed many concerts at various locations. The band members were an amazing group of people, and she quickly developed a love of playing and contesting. After 8 years, she reluctantly left for university. Following graduation and a change of location, Angie joined Audley Brass (Staffordshire) where she spent a fabulous 10 years, progressing from the 4th to the 2nd section, touring in France and regularly attending Pontins and Whit Friday March contests. Following another location move to Buckinghamshire, Angie played regularly with Marsh Gibbon Silver Band, Brackley And District Brass Band and Bedford Town Concert Brass, with occasional contests with Bedford Town Band, Milton Keynes Brass and a memorable (for all the right reasons) tour around Edinburgh with Kidlington Concert Brass. After realising that playing with 3 bands was not sustainable she consolidated and is now playing regularly with Bedford Town Concert Brass and Milton Keynes Brass.

Position: 2nd Horn

Lizzie took up the cornet at the age of 18 when she commenced her teacher training specialising in music, with voice as her first study. Her then Boyfriend, David Johnston kept going of to 'band practice', so she thought 'if you can't beat them, join them'. 47 years later, Lizzie and husband Dave are still banding together and their older son, Kit, is a percussionist with MK Brass too. As well as being a full time primary teacher, and an infant headteacher for the last 25 years, Lizzie taught for 15 years with Milton Keynes Music Service, conducting youth choirs and brass ensembles, and teaching music theory. She also studied opera for several years and sang several leading roles locally, including Frasquita in Opera MK's production of Carmen and Nancy in Oliver. A founder member of the band, variously on cornet, flugelhorn then Eb bass in the early days of Broseley Brass before its change of name to MK Brass, Lizzie moved onto tenor horn in the early 90s when the challenge of toting around 2 small children and pushchair to gigs made wheeling the tuba a bridge too far. As well as playing in the band Lizzie sings soprano with the Danesborough Chorus.
