  • Martin Wakley - Solo Trombone

    Martin Wakley

    Position: Solo Trombone

    Martin started playing the trombone at the age of 7 in the newly formed City of Milton Keynes Youth Band. He stayed with the band for over 30 years through its changes of name to Bletchley Band and ultimately Secklow Brass. He discovered the joys of orchestral playing and played with numerous orchestras in the area, he was the principal trombone of Northampton Symphony Orchestra, Bedford Sinfonia and Bedford Symphony Orchestra. Martin restarted his banding with Olney Brass before moving to MK Brass in 2016.

  • Jemma Cain - 2nd Trombone

    Position: 2nd Trombone

    Jemma grew up on the Isle of Man and was introduced to the brass band world with the Manx Youth Band. At 9 years old Jemma started playing the euphonium with Manx Youth Band and eventually joined Manx Concert Brass playing baritone. During this time Jemma was promoted to the Principal Euphonium seat in the Manx Youth Band going on tours to Republic of Ireland and to Northern Italy, with the added bonus of enjoying long weekends away to England contesting with Manx Concert Brass at the Whit Friday March and the North-west Regional Area Championships on timps. Taking a break from the banding scene, Jemma relocated to Milton Keynes and established her profession within psychiatric nursing, gaining 3 diploma's and a degree all related to nursing and talking therapies. In 2012 Jemma re-joined the brass band movement with Milton Keynes Development Band on tenor trombone, helping with Wolverton Town Band before spending several enjoyable years in Bradwell Silver Band before gaining the Second Trombone seat at Milton Keynes Brass.

  • Martyn Potts - Bass Trombone

    Position: Bass Trombone

    Martyn grew up in Leicester and started playing trombone at an early age with the local Salvation Army brass band and County Schools Symphony Orchestra. He moved to bass trombone at 16 and has played this ever since except for a couple of periods on tenor trombone when the band has been desperate. Indeed he has played the same Holton instrument since the age of 16 although he is hoping for a new one when the new kitchen has been paid for. Over the years Martyn has played with bands in all five contest sections including Bradwell Silver, Woburn Sands, Swindon Pegasus, Clacton Co-operative and Colchester Silver. He has been a member of Milton Keynes Brass since 2003 and is the Band Treasurer. Martyn's musical highlights include being placed second in a competition where he was the only entrant and playing in the Colchester Music Festival Youth Section aged 32 having misread the rules. Martyn is married to Sarah, the band's Solo Horn player, having met while depping at a band wedding 30 years ago.
