Band BBQ brings players and families together in the sunshine

Everyone knows that it isn’t just the music that makes a brass band, it’s the people and the social scene. After 3 years without anything more than very small gatherings, it was great to see nearly 40 people at the “Band Barbeque” this summer.

Cornet player Anne Coombes was kind enough to host the event and provided plenty of seating and a field for games and camping. The children were kept occupied with a bouncy castle, trampoline and swings while the adults caught up with overdue chit chat and feasting.

The band provided plenty of food and Alan Ferguson and Martin Bay kindly cooked all afternoon. The weather stayed sunny right into the evening, if a little windy, and the more adventurous adults even joined in with a game of rounders.

The band plan to make this an annual event - hopefully with a bit more notice next year so that all the band and their families can attend.
